OUR BRAND VALUES*

Mawley Town Farm is home of the Mawley Holsteins and Mawley Milk. Mawley Milk was established in 1982, where we process and bottle our single-origin milk and cream on-farm on the Shropshire/Worcestershire border. Our mission is to produce milk and cream of the highest quality, while ensuring the best animal welfare by using a wealth of husbandry knowledge and the latest technology. Our farm is powered with 100% renewable energy, and we are members of the Countryside Stewardship Scheme. 750 acres of arable land provides cereal and forage for the dairy and bull-beef herd.

OUR COMMITMENTS*

Sustainability

We grow all cereal and forage for our cattle on our farm in and around Cleobury Mortimer, reducing food miles and carbon footprint. In addition, all our cattle are homebred, and we rear ALL bulls, who we mature for beef. All dairy heifers join the milking herd.

Environment

We are members of the Countryside Stewardship Scheme, which promotes conservation, training and skills, and productivity.

Local Communities

We are very involved with our local community. We have donated 2 acres of land for local allotment scheme. We also sponsor many local events, and for the last 3 years have donated a proportion of the sale price of our 4 pint semi skimmed milk to the Birmingham Childrens Hospital. Our chosen national charities are Little Hearts Matter, and Send a Cow.

Packaging & Waste

Mawley Milk is packaged in fully recyclable HDPE plastic bottles. For some catering customers, returnable 2 gallon containers are available.

Inspiring & Educating

We host bi-annual open days to the public. We also host farm walks for organised groups, by appointment only.

Energy Reduction

We have invested in renewable energy over the last few years, and now produce enough electricity to run the farm. A multi-tech site, our electricity is generated from 75kw wind turbine, 100kw solar panels, and a 'slurry only' 80kw anaerobic digester (we do not grow crops to feed the digester, it runs off 100% cattle slurry). The bi-product from the digester is heat, which we use to heat water for the boilers, and also frost-proof the cattle shed and dairy.

Nutritional Values

Mawley Milk is bottled on the farm 6 mornings a week. It is pasteurised, but not homogenised, so you can enjoy its natural creamy flavour and texture.

Animal Welfare

Animal welfare is the top of our priorities. Our herd is looked after 365 days a year by experienced herdmen who have a wealth of husbandry knowledge. The milking cows have access to pasture in the summer when the ground conditions allow. Our cows milk on a 'robotic' automated system, that allows them to choose how often they go to be milked, 24 hours a day. This allows the higher-yeilding cows to give their milk 5-6 times a day, rather than just twice a day on a conventional milking system.
