Smith & Clay (formally Brackley Butchers) are the Countryside Alliance Champion Butchers 2019. Awarded the title for their hard work with local producers and communities, they are always working to educate people on the importance of knowing the provenance of their food. Smith & Clay work closely with the local farming community to source and supply the best the local area has to offer. What cannot be sourced locally is bought from carefully chosen and approved suppliers. Smith & Clay continue to practice traditional full carcass butchery ensuring nothing goes to waste, continuing to hone their skills and pass them on to the next generation of Butchers.

Packaging & Waste

We are working towards making all of our packaging sustainable. Our carrier bags are all totally degradable and made from recycled bottles. We encourage our customers to bring their own containers in to reduce the amount of plastic we use even more.

We work with local groups and schools to deepen local ties and educate the wider community of provenance and sustainability.

Animal Welfare

We visit the local farmers we work with regularly to ensure that their animal welfare standards are high. All our local farmers use a small local abattoir that is only a short distance away reducing stress to the animals when travelling.
