OUR BRAND VALUES*
OUR COMMITMENTS*
Sustainability
We’re proud to be accredited as a sustainable business by Business in Community – part of the Prince’s Responsible Business Network. This recognises our many sustainable practices – from supporting fair trade, renewable energy and local suppliers to sharing our profits with local communities. We want to build a better environment for all.
Environment
We want to bring about positive change for our planet. With a focus on energy saving and recycling, our environmental projects have completely transformed how we do business. We’re proud to be able to say that in the last few years The Midcounties Co-operative have: increased recycling levels to 99%, reduced the total amount of waste we produce by over 30%, reduced energy usage by over 15% saving 7,000 tonnes of CO2
Local Communities
Supporting local communities is one of the guiding principles for our business and because we’re owned by our members, they decide who needs our help most. Each year we donate a share of our profits to local organisations. We’re also involved in volunteering, fundraising and a whole host of community projects. We’re passionate about making a difference to local people. Our work has been recognised by a number of national bodies and we’re proud to have received many awards.

Inspiring & Educating
Co-op Childcare is taking part in The Eco-Schools Programme. This is child-led, involving hands-on learning that gets the whole nursery and the wider community involved in exciting environmental projects. Every nursery has completed an Eco-Schools project and they have all achieved the Eco Schools Bronze Award.
Energy Reduction
Our Parent Brand, Midcounties, have recently launched Co-op Community Energy, a joint venture between The Midcounties Co-operative and Octopus Energy. Co-op Community Energy focuses entirely on supporting renewable community energy projects across the country such as Osney Lock which is the first community-owned hydro scheme to be built on the Thames.
Nutritional Values
Our Food supplier, Creed allows us to use Saffron Nutritional software which helps us to plan our menus according to nutrient content. The nutritional profile that it creates for every ingredient is included in our recipes and menus to produce traffic light labelling and GDA analysis.
