Happerley’s William out to protect integrity of Scottish food and drink

William McPhail has joined Happerley, the food provenance organisation, to head up the provenance team in Scotland. He brings with him many years’ experience in sales and retail, both in Scotland and internationally, most latterly in FMCG.

“I was immediately drawn to Happerley’s transparency in the food-chain ethos,” explains William from his base in East Kilbride: “Here in Scotland we produce world-class food and drink as our booming export figures show; we are also vulnerable to the dilution of that reputation by anyone in the world who chooses to claim Scottish provenance. I’m looking forward to forming strong partnerships with our producers to enable them to capitalise on their authenticity and integrity of food and drink production and sales.”

Matt Rymer is founder of Happerley: “We’re delighted to have William on board; Happerley is growing fast as farmers, food producers and consumers benefit from total transparency. Food provenance is a valuable commodity and we need to protect it from producers and outlets with less integrity.”
