Cotswolds Distillery
OUR BRAND VALUES*
OUR COMMITMENTS*
Sustainability
Solar panels are fitted at the distillery, providing us with a sustainable energy source for everyday energy demands on site.
Environment
From distilling our gin there is a waste product called effluent, which after being produced is taken to create a bio fuel. All of the waste materials created on site (cardboard, glass, plastic, paper) are recycled. During whisky production, the draff (used malted barely) is taken by Rob, the local farmer to feed his cattle.
Local Communities
Our owner, Dan Szor, is on the board of the Cotswolds AONB. We also support a conservation scheme – Caring for the Cotswolds, where we offer our customers the chance to support local conservation by donating a small amount of money online and through our visitor centre. We support the local community by committing to using locally grown barely for our Single Malt Whisky and sourcing the lavender that is used in our gin production from Snowshill Lavender, Broadway.
Packaging & Waste
From distilling our gin there is a waste product called effluent, which after being produced is taken to create a bio fuel. All of the waste materials created on site (cardboard, glass, plastic, paper) are recycled. During whisky production, the draff (used malted barely) is taken by Rob, the local farmer to feed his cattle.
Inspiring & Educating
The award-winning tours we host at the distillery offer a rare insight into the production of our award-winning Cotswolds Dry Gin and Cotswolds Single Malt Whisky, which are made and bottled on site at the distillery. Visitors on their tours will be guided all around the distillery and warehouse to see gin and whisky distilling in action, ending up in the cosy tasting room to sample the full range of products. With a brand new visitor centre set to open in April 2019 our visitor experience will be a truly unique experience in the Cotswolds, not to be missed!
Energy Reduction
As mentioned above we have solar panels fitted to reduce energy required from non-sustainable energy sources such as fuel. During distillation, we use the excess heat in the steam system to heat the boiler supply water, cutting down on the diesel required to heat the boiler. Also, prior to production effluent being taken for biofuel, the heat from it is harvested to preheat the next batch going into still, thus reducing fuel demands.
