Bewdley Brewery Ltd is an independent family-run brewery, which is located in the riverside town of Bewdley, Worcestershire. Established in 2008, we are passionate about beer and brewing, using only the best ingredients to give our customers the quality they deserve and have come to expect. When we started, there had not been a commercial brewery in Bewdley for 96 years and it has been our passion to ‘Bring Brewing back to Bewdley’. We have won numerous awards over the past years from SIBA (our trade body), CAMRA and the British Bottlers Institute.

We have solar photo-voltaic panels on the roof of the brewery which supplements the use of mains power. When the brewery is shut, we export power to the national grid. We also use air heat pump systems to keep our fermenting room at a constant temperature all year round and to heat the brewery taproom. In January 2019 we will be taking delivery of a new cask washer which will give large savings on water.

We aim to reduce our carbon footprint by working with local suppliers wherever possible, reducing food miles. We obtain mainly Worcestershire Hops from Charles Faram Ltd in Malvern, Worcs. A local baker takes our beer for making bread. Our 5% Worcestershire Sway goes to a local butcher for the preparation of very tasty sausages.

Local Communities

We support the local community through holding several fundraising events. We also offer work experience to the local Job Centre. We sponsor several local events such as Bewdley Festival and Bewdley Regatta. Many raffle prizes are donated for various causes throughout the year.

Packaging & Waste

Cardboard and boxes are recycled to someone who sells on the internet. Whole hops are circulated throughout the community for composting and the spent grains go to a local cattle farmer to supplement the cattle feed.

Inspiring & Educating

We have helped several undergraduates with projects and undertaken student questionnaires. We also have approx. two visits a year from the local REACH Organization when we show them round and explain the brewing process. . We have had two apprentices, one is now Assistant Brewer and the remaining apprentice has just finished a diploma in brewing. We will continue with the apprentice programme into the foreseeable future.

Energy Reduction

We are always looking for ways to reduce our energy usage.
