Environment

Environemental impact is close to our heart. A few examples of things we do are: (i) supporting Gerezim Farm Brazil who lay 20% of their farm fallow to rainforest preservation; (ii) funding and encouraging bee-keeping and tree-planting projects on Mount Kilimanjaro; (iii) funding forest conservation with the Maasai tribe in Kenya.

Local Communities

We work with local communities here in the UK, and at origin. For example, development projects like supplying clean water to villages in Mweka, Tanzania; working with the Jacutinga community in Brazil to develop their coffee quality and processing; or here in Gloucestershire supportin social enterprise community coffee shops to establish and thrive.

Packaging & Waste

We re-use as much packaging as possible that comes in to us; we recycle as much our waste as we can; we use kraft boxes to avoid bleaching and excessive printing inks. When it come to the coffe ebags themselves, honestly it's complicated. To get the right balance between food standards, maintaining quality and biodegradable or recyclable options has been a regular trade-off. We are keen to switch our packaging as soon as a viable biodegradable option is available and affordable.

Inspiring & Educating

One of our founders, Ian, regularly gives up time to speak at educational, community and business events, as well as helping students with research looking at ethical business and fair trade.
