OUR BRAND VALUES*

Once Upon A Tree produces authentic craft ciders using traditional varieties of cider apple and methods that have been used for hundreds of years. It's a LEAF (Linking Environment and Farming) farm, there are numerous nest boxes for the wildlife in the orchard and surrounding hedgerows and we directly support the Birds of Prey Centre at Newent with our Little Owl boxes. Chemicals are only used when absolutely necessary and we limit the number of tractor miles as much as we can. We harvest our apples at their optimum and it's the quality of the apples in the orchard that makes our ciders so delicious - we intervene as little as possible! We use recycled or recyclable packaging wherever possible. Cider making unlike brewing does not require the addition of heat in the process, our ferments happen naturally at low temperatures over many months.

OUR COMMITMENTS*

Sustainability

The orchards are currently 30 years old and they'll continue to give us great fruit for many years to come. We source perry pears from ancient trees in the village, some of which can be 200 hundred years old.

Environment

It is in our interest to look after the environment to give us quality fruit. You'll find many natural pest control methods in place and a reed-bed water filtration system for the farmhouse.

Local Communities

We actively support the Newent Birds of Prey Centre. Proceeds from our Wild Flight cider goes to the centre and we have many of their Little Owl nesting boxes in the orchard.

Packaging & Waste

Our plastic cups are compostable and we try to use recyclable materials whenever possible.

Inspiring & Educating

We love to inform, there's so much heritage about cider to pass on, it's a pleasure to tell our story.

Energy Reduction

Unlike beer, cider doesn't need the addition of heat to be made - our ferments happen naturally over many months, if the weather is cold and fermentation stops we just wait until it warms up again.
