Wenlock Spring is a family business which was established in 1989. Since then the company’s central focus has been to bottle a premium, natural source water as sustainably as possible. This means sourcing responsibly and packaging in an environmentally conscious way. Our investment in machinery and technology keeps us abreast of strict laws that govern bottled water at both a national and European level. The company has attained The British Retail Consortium Higher (Grade A) Accreditation for the bottling of Wenlock Spring in both glass and plastic bottles and also achieved the highest level of accreditation from the British Water Cooler Association for our 19 litre filling lines. We are continually implementing new procedures to improve our carbon footprint and have achieved a 99% recycling programme for all packaging used on our site. All our customers are extremely important to us and we aim to provide a friendly, first class service at all times.

Sustainability

Wenlock Spring is located in Shropshire beside the Wenlock Edge in an area of outstanding natural beauty. The Wenlock Edge is a geologically famous limestone escarpment created 400 million years ago and is 15 miles long stretching between Much Wenlock and Craven Arms. Wenlock Spring water filters naturally through this rock strata providing it with its unique blend of minerals, including calcium and selenium, giving it a refreshing and delicately sweet taste.

Environment

Wenlock Spring will deliver bottles that have 50% rPET (recycled plastic) content by Spring and will be pushing for 100% rPET bottles.

Wenlock Spring sources bottles, caps and labels from within Britain - supporting British manufacturing and British employment

Packaging & Waste

Wenlock Spring have switched their plastic PET bottles, to be made with 50% recycled content. This plastic’s trade name is rPET, as it is ’remade’ from plastic put into the recycling system. The recycling plant that Wenlock Spring works with produced 38,000 tonnes of rPET in 2018. The quantity of rPET produced is not dependent on demand but on the supply of materials being recycled. As Local Authorities collect more plastic, we intend to increase the percentage of rPET in our bottles. Wenlock Spring’s glass bottles are also made from 40% recycled glass and the bottle is full recyclable.

A pure spring water - naturally filtered through the Wenlock Edge, bottled at source and then packaged in an environmentally conscious way The whole bottling process takes place on-site - from source to bottle with as little impact on the environment as possible.
