Just Cold Pressed Extra Virgin Rapeseed Oil is produced by the Froggatt Family on their farm in Hill Ridware in the heart of Staffordshire. Over the last four generations, the farm and the family have seen their fair share of change and have adapted and diversified. In 2005, Anthony Froggatt saw an opportunity to produce rapeseed oil from his oil seed rape crop, and the family launched a culinary cold pressed rapeseed oil, followed quickly by Just Salad Dressings, Just Infused Oils, Just Mayonnaise and their very popular Just Apple Balsamic and Rapeseed Oil Dressing and Dipping Oil. Now receiving great publicity from top chefs and nutritionists, cold pressed rapeseed oil has fast become the real alternative to olive oil for food lovers and the health conscious alike. Anthony hopes that future generations will continue to farm at Wade Lane Farm, so he is determined to continue to farm in a sustainable manner, to provide safe and affordable food, and care for the environment as his forebears have done for the last 80 years.

OUR COMMITMENTS*

Sustainability

Minimum tillage (or conservation tillage) is used for the sowing of our crops on Wade Lane Farm. This method conserves moisture and causes the least disturbance and erosion to the soil and can conserve up to 50% in energy consumption. The versatility of rapeseed oil, with its high smoke point and light nutty flavour, allows you to be able to Fry, Drizzle, Dip, Roast and Bake with it. We crush and bottle the oil on the farm, and our glass bottles are sourced from UK producers, also minimising food miles.

Environment

The farm has been part of the Higher Level Environment Stewardship Scheme for many years, planting miles of hedges and laying down ground cover to encourage native birds and wildlife. We have bee hives on the farm, and as well as helping to pollinate the crops, the bees produce delicious honey which is also used in our Honey and Mustard Salad Dressing. All our crops are grown to Red Tractor standard.

Local Communities

Supporting St Giles Hospice, the British Heart Foundation in Birmingham and St Mary’s Hospice, we are always happy to provide a raffle prize or donations to volunteers raising money for these good causes. Packaging & Waste

Our rapeseed meal (the seed husks and a little oil that we can’t extract through natural pressure) is sold for animal feed. All our glass bottles and tin cans are recyclable. We have also started to supply Zero Waste stores with our oil in reusable and recyclable containers.

Inspiring & Educating

We work with local Young Farmers groups, Harper Adams University and the University of Warwick hosting visits, work placements and talks on the diversification plan being followed by Wade Lane Farm, passing on our knowledge and motivating the next generation.

Energy Reduction

Our light and airy production and packing rooms are mostly lit with daylight, and lighting is controlled so we only use it when its needed, again the electricity is provided from our bank of solar panels. . Our bank of solar panels generates clean energy which we use on the farm and in the factory and any excess goes into the National Grid.
